Obituary

Dorothy Ann Scocca, 78, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family.

A celebration of life mass will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 15, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church, officiated by Father Jerome Chavarria, CSsR, with burial to follow at St. James Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 prior to the service at the church.

Dorothy was born on March 1, 1941 in Flushing, NY to the late Anna and John Thomas Healy. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Shea; brother, Tommy Healy.

She had worked for many years in the Insurance business. Dorothy enjoyed talking, eating, and bowling. She also spent time volunteering at the hospital, serving on the Women’s Guild and as a Eucharistic Minister at St. James Catholic Church.

Dorothy is survived by her fiancé, Ed Kolibabek; daughter, Mary Ann Helms and husband, Bob; son, John Scocca and wife, Sandi; grandchildren, Jason DePascale, John Scocca, Jr., Brianna Maria Scocca; great-grandchildren, Karter DePascale, Decker DePascale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association, 4 N. Blount St. #200, Raleigh, NC 27601.

Dotty was an inspiration to all that knew her. She bore her cross with dignity, perseverance and class. Her determination to continue on as she always had was an incredible testament to her courage and faith. We are all blessed by her never give up attitude and selfless generosity to all. We are proud to be able to call her our friend, blessed to have known her, and will miss her greatly. She is at peace now. God bless you Dottie. Jan and Tony Persuitte
